about

HARES ON THE MOUNTAIN is one of the best known light-hearted love songs from Southern England and was published by Cecil Sharp in his Folk Songs of Sommerset. Narrated by a woman, the words seem to be musing on the usefulness, or uselessness rather, of what they obviously consider a dubious male society. Our arrangement is based upon Shirley Collins' recording with with legendary guitarist Davy Graham, for their album Folk Roots, New Routes.
